Sumit is the President of Reliance JioInfocomm, India's newest green-field 4G Broadband Digital Services company. Prior to this Sumitwas Vice President and Partner of Global Business Services in IBM India, and the CIO of Reliance Communications. At RCOM he spun off their IT Unit into Reliance Tech Services and became its founding CEO. Prior to relocating to India, Sumit served as the interim Country Head of BearingPoint (KPMG Consulting) in Australia. He started his career in 1992 as a Project Executive with Philips India. After a year, he moved to the US for graduate studies. During his Ph.D., he received the Best Teaching Assistance Award and became an adjunct faculty for two semesters, co-teaching an MBA course. During the last year of his Ph.D., he joined San Francisco Consulting Group (SFCG), which got acquired by KPMG LLP in 1998. Sumit became one of the youngest Partners of KMPG in 2002 and led the Systems Integration and Telecommunication practice for Australia.
Sumit has mentored, angel-funded and incubated several startup companies in diverse fields like health-care research , mobile &internet technologies , Health& IT Services. Sumitserves on the Board of Hello Health - a patient care medical services company, Bravo Consulting and a Board Advisor with TotalStart – an entrepreneurship incubator. He was on the Board of Directors of Tele-Management-Forum (TMF) and Council of Governors of ASSOCHAM in Australia. He served as the member of Ethics Committee at Pine-Lodge Clinic in Melbourne (2004-2005) and Non-Executive Director with Wireless Nova (2001-2004).
Sumit did his schooling at Loyola High School, holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from IIT Kanpur and an MS and Ph.D from Carnegie Mellon University . Sumit's also has a diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The soon-to-be-released book targets young readers who are graduating from college or are in the early phase of their careers. The book demystifies what it takes to succeed in the corporate workplace, and it also captures lessons from more than 200 senior executives and contains detailed interviews with 12 self-made professional CEOs of Indian companies. The book presents career management as a game and seeks to raise the bar for everyone in the journey of managing their careers and getting out of the rat-race.
